-- I thought this might help us with our posts.
1. Try to never post less than two sentences.
Bad Example: Featherstar nodded to her warriors.
Good Example: Featherstar nodded to Moonheart, giving her leadership of the patrol. She glanced at the group of three warriors designated for the border patrol. "Try to bring back some fresh-kill while you're out there." she purred before walking back to her den.
2. Don't overdo your posts. I love it when you go all out but don't be like super specific because it's hard to follow up.
Bad Example: Featherstar walked three meters north of camp. She stopped and looked around the clearing. A squirrel was perched in a tree about 10 feet tall. It had a large nut with a circumference of 20 cm2. The river current was at a speed of 3 miles per hour. The depth was an all-time low at 2 1/2 inches deep. The grass was brown and only an inch high. Birds soared about 20 feet over her head.
as you can see, that is really specific and annoying
Good Example: Featherstar padded away from camp. After putting some distance behind her, she looked around the clearing. A squirrel, nibbling at a nut, was perched on the branch of a tree. The river gurgled lazily. Featherstar noticed that the river looked a little lower than usual. She could see the bottom perfectly. The grass and surrounding foliage was a brown color- signalling that a drought was under way.
3. Try not to make too many spelling errors, and if you do modify it!! That's what the modify button is THERE for!!!!!!
Bad Example: Featherster wnt too the rivr and seh fishd. She cursed as seh missde teh fissh. She loked acros the river and saw to cats. there sent was from JunglaeClna.
OMG do you know how hard that was for me to type?!?! It's not hard to fix that!!
Good Example: Featherstar went to the river to fish. She cursed as she missed her target. Looking across the river, she noticed two cats with FlameClan scents.
4. Unless the numbers are big, try to write them out for the most part.
Bad Example: Featherstar carried 2 birds in her mouth back to camp. As she made her way to the freshkill pile, 3 kits scampered around playfullly.
it's just kindof annoying and my english teacher would've deducted like 5 points each time that happened. I don't think this really needs a good example.
5. Refrain from abbreviating...rping isn't a text message.
Bad Example: Featherstar led her clan 2 the gathering. She looked around her warriors. Suddenly she saw Shadowstar. "I'll brb." she murmured to her deputy.
yeah that's just annoying. I'm not even going to do a good example.
6. Godmoding and Powerplaying are biggies!! Just ask Shadowstar (a member from my site)!! She scared someone who Powerplayed soooo badly that the poor girl quit the site!! Godmoding is when you're invincible and Powerplaying is when you play someone else's character.
[code - Powerplaying God moding ]
Bad Example: She lept into the air, and then dodged all of his slashes, not getting tired at all. She spat a curse, and moved away, not looking at him, pretending to be giving up. Featherstar whirled round suddenly, and slashed the tom's nose, splitting the flesh and making it bleed heavily. The tom fell back and lay in the dirt. Sandstar laughed and slashed his side open, the blood oozing onto the floor.
Okay, 1st off you don't want to do a lot of damage unless you have the other person's consent. YOU NEVER EVER PLAY SOMEONE ELSE'S Character and it's okay if you dodge some attacks but you should at least get a few wounds. And FYI, you don't ever kill anyone's character without permission.
Good Example: Featherstar lept into the air in shock, and danced side to side, trying to avoid his slashes, but one caught her left front leg and she fell to the ground. It had broken the skin, and she moaned slightly as the pain stabbed at her sharply. Getting up unsteadily she lept at tom, attempting to slash his nose.
A second point on powerplaying. Don't over do avoiding it! Some people get worried and don't touch the other charicter at all! Here's an example.
Bad Example: Marshpaw looked at Jaypaw, who was sitting next to her, and tryed to nudge him, aiming for her upper body. She then reached out to attempt to touch Jaypaw's front paw, but wasn't sure if she would reach
Good Example: Marshpaw looked at Jaypaw, who was sitting next to her and nudged him on the shoulder playfuly. She looked away, then reached out her paw and placed it on his, smiling lovingly.
7. I saw this on another site. If a thread (for rping not like in chat or anything) is on it's second page or more, for the most part don't join in. Now some things are okay, like a gathering for example (if you were chosen to go) and if you make a good story.
I'm just gonna give an example of what's okay. For this, JungleClan is being attacked by racoons. It's on it's 2nd page and the battle has just ended. The warriors are all wounded but Sandfur (me) forgot to post during the battle. So here's what I'd do:
Sandfur padded into camp carrying a vole, a squirrel, and two mice. She eyes were shining with pride that she had been hunting all morning. Her fur was sleek and uninjured, unlike his clan mates. She glanced around camp and dropped her fresh-kill immediately. "What in StarClan's name happened here!?!" she yowled loudly.
That's about all for now! If I think of more I'll post it and if y'all think of any, post here or PM me!
